About Us |
|
In the early years of the 1900s, Paul H. Miller started a small window screen manufacturing business in a shop behind his southside home. His slogan “We make monkeys out of flies.” At that time the traditional cupboard, pantry or tin-paneled kitchen safe was considered good enough for any cook or housewife. But by 1921, Miller was wondering if kitchen planning and storage couldn’t be improved. He began turning out custom made kitchen cabinets for his friends and neighbors and became one of the first in Indianapolis to make “set-in” or built-in kitchen cabinets. Several of the original Miller cabinets are still in use in houses around the Miller Maid shops at 4805 Hardegan. The founder of Miller Maid Cabinets passed away in 1960 but the tradition has been continued by son Harold Miller (1980), son-in-law Bob Davis (2002), and grandson Tom Davis (current president). |
